GOPHER

What is GOPHER?

The Grand Opening Project to Help Educate Rocketeers [GOPHER] is the introductory program on Rocket Team that is structured as a first step into high-power rocketry. Each participant will be able to build and fly their own rocket to receive an L1 high-power rocketry certification. Check out the Tripoli Rocketry Association website for more information on what an L1 rocket is and what an L1 certification entails.

How can I get involved?

GOPHER will have its first meeting on September 19th to discuss the basics of building a rocket and to organize members into small groups of 3-4. Each group will be assigned a mentor to guide the building process and share their area of expertise. These small groups will schedule a time once a week for a month to work on their rockets. In mid-October, we will host a launch in North Branch, MN where GOPHER participants can watch their projects fly!

The rockets will be simple to build and instructional videos will be provided to illustrate the process, alongside the group mentors who are experienced Rocket Team members.

We highly recommend that new members participate in GOPHER. It's a great way to learn the basics of high-power rocketry and have a ton of fun along the way. If you have any questions about GOPHER, don't hesitate to reach out to our GOPHER lead, Quinn Reierson. If you're curious about any subteams, reach out to their leads! Subteams are how you get involved with more complex and interesting projects within the Rocket Team.
